April 22 - Earth Day
How do you and your students celebrate Earth Day? One of the activities we enjoy participating in is the Earth Day Groceries Project.
Our school is located right next door to a local grocery store, so at the beginning of April, I go to the store a get a bundle (about 400 bags) of their brown grocery bags. Then my students spend the next few weeks decorating the bags with Earth friendly messages. On April 21, the day before Earth Day, we return the decorated grocery bags to the store to be handed out to their customers on April 22.

The Poetry for People project is a daily poetry-writing prompt. Each prompt takes the form of an inspiring image, and a suggested poetic form. Users of the site are encouraged to come back each and every day in April to share, read, and inspire others. It doesn’t matter if you’re a poetry novice, or a master wordsmith. The mood, style, or feeling of the poem is up to you, but please make sure to read the project guidelines before posting your poem.
